The Sword series of scissors is a product of Mizutani's quest for perfect ergonomics. Long hours of research and development have gone into producing a pair of high performance scissors that are specifically designed to prevent RSI and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Mizutani call it "organic design" and you can see this in the shape of the Sword's handles in the picture below. These are of a basic offset design, but with curves and a flow to them that follows the shape of your hands and ensures a supremely comfortable working position.

The pivot screw uses a carbon/resin bearing which delivers a smooth and virtually frictionless action. The screw itself is of semi-flat design to minimise the chance of hair catching in the mechanism, and you can set the tension to your preference with either your fingers or a coin.

Each pair of Mizutani Sword scissors is created individually from cobalt-molybdenum steel that ensures excellent durability and good sharpness retention. There are two blade types to choose from:

  • The Sword D-17 has an unadorned design with simple, sword-style blades that have been given Mizutani's unique triple arched shape to help reduce stress on your arm and create stability in the blade.
  • The Sword D-19 features multi-sided (or polyhedral) blades that have a wonderful lightness and have been specially designed to focus power into the cutting action.

Either scissor will give you superb cutting performance, both will let you do it in unparalleled comfort.

Both the D-17 and D-19 are available in 5.7, 6.2 and 6.7 inches.
